Short comfort Everest Base Camp Trek Trip Oveview
Short comfort Everest Base Camp Trek 13 days is featured to fulfill the dream of wandering in the Heavenly Himalayas in minimum budget. The trek is cheaper and time friendly plus comfortable with ample acclimatization. This trek package is especially coined for the budget trekkers who have limited vacation yet desire to experience the wilderness of the Himalayas to the fullest.
The Short comfort EBC trek package doesn’t include airport reception and also excludes city tour in Kathmandu and Patan. The trekkers have all the economic freedom to select the hotel, lodge or restaurants while staying in Kathmandu. The trail of the trek traces the less travelled alternative route from Namche to Phortse and Dingboche which offers the best serene picturesque scenery of Sherpa village, green hills, terraced farmland and gleaming mountains.
After delicate breakfast in the early morning, the trek is inaugurated from Kathmandu (TIA) to Lukla with 30-40 minutes roller coaster flight. The flight to Lukla is not the normal flight; it offers panicky plus exuberant experience to the trekkers. Once the flight lands at Lukla, the highest airstrip and single runway over the cliff draws the attention of the trekkers. At Lukla, trekkers must pay for the entrance card to gain further permission.
Lukla is a small village, a vantage point to EBC, Gokyo Lake and Three Passes. The trail from Lukla descends down through Pasang Lhamu Sherpa memorial gate to the Sherpa village Cheplung offering the first glimpse of tantalizing Mt Khumbila (5,761m) before ascending to the ridge of the village Ghat. From the ridge, the trail continues to Phakding, offering rhododendron forest, Snowcapped mountain, roaring milky river, monasteries, prayer wheels, inscribed Mani walls, stupas. Phakding is the first stopping place for the trekkers where one can enjoy amiable hospitality, fine culture and delicious food.
The trail from Phakding traces through suspension bridges and dense forest of Sagarmatha National park offering the introductory view of Kongde Ri (6,187m) before the trail come across the villages Zamfute, Benkar, Chhamuwa and Monjo. Monjo village is the entrance check point of Sagarmatha National park, the highest national park of Nepal. All the trekkers compulsorily register the Entrance card and National Park Permit card at the check point to get trekking permission. Walking through Sagarmatha National Park, the trail continues to Namche, the largest tourist hub in the Everest region. Namche is popular for the modern amenities and cerulean landscape where one can enjoy good food and serene nature.
Namche is suggested the perfect place for acclimatization. Actually, acclimatization day helps the trekkers to maintain oxygen intake and physical fitness. On this day, short side trip to the villages Khumjung, Kunde and Syangboche is worth-visiting. The trail from Namche to Khumjung stops for tea break at Everest View Hotel, one of the highest elevated hotels in the world which offers the view of sparkling peaks: Mt. Khumbila (5,761m), Mt. Thamserku (6,623m), Mt. Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m) and Ama Dablam (6,812m).
From Everest view hotel, the trail continues towards the village Khumjung which is renowned for Khumjung Hillary school, one of the oldest schools of Everest region. After inspecting the school building, thee trail ascends to Kunde, a popular village which serves health facilities to the largest population of Everest region through Kunde Hilliary hospital. The trail after Kunde drops downward to the village Syangboche. The village has a non-commercial airstrip situated at highest elevation and has unpaved runway. The runway offers majestic view of Namche village and exquisite nature while dropping down to Namche.
The short comfort EBC trail takes an alternative route from Namche to Phortse and Dengboche. The trail offers the magnificent introductory view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku before the trail traces the village Khyangjuma. As the trail inclines, it pauses at Sanasa village, a fork from where the path links up with the alternative route which is not as crowd as EBC trail. The trail is so calm and tranquil and offers sparkling massif, countless monasteries, Mani wheels, even animals like: Pheasant, Himalayan Thar, Musk deer, Yaks, etc. After ascending from Sanasa to Mong La ridge and Phortse Thanga, the trail drops downward the beautiful terraced village Phortse.
The route from Phortse to Dingboche is longer, but the magnificent glimpse of snow-capped Ama Dablam, holy monasteries, terraced field, tranquil nature, dazzling mountains, and rolling steppe hills aspire the trekkers to relive along the path. The trail inclines to the beautiful Sherpa village Pangboche before marching ahead to the villages Somare and Orsho. Crossing along Imja river and suspension bridge, the trail lands at Dingboche. The village is also called ‘The Summer Valley’ as Sun hang around in the sky till evening.
Dingboche is the final stop for acclimatization. There is always risk of Acute Mountain Sickness while ascending at higher elevational hence the experts recommend acclimatization day for proper oxygen intake and short side trip. On the acclimatization day, a short side trek to Nangkartshang Peak offers the fascinating view of numerous peaks including Makalau, Island Peak, Ama Dablam and Lhotse. The Nangkartshang Gompa on the way is also a worthy place to visit during the rest day.
The trail from Dingboche ascends further to the village Dusa and comes at a fork Dughla which marches towards Lobuche through Thokla Pass. The trail to Lobuche offers magnificent view of colossal peaks: Taboche (6,367m) and Cholatse peak (6,335m). Trekking in Everest region is awe-inspiring yet the steep route and frequent climate change may hinder the journey but the splendid glimpse of Khumbu glacier, climbers’ memorial tombstones, Lobuche Kharka (yak farm) and Awi peak en-route give some hope to the trekkers to continue the journey.
The trail from Lobuche to Gorakshep gradually ascends through moraine glacier, sand pit and boulders along Imja river. Gorakshep serves the trekkers with internet access and cozy accommodation though it is the last human settlement at higher altitude. The village is a fork which leads to Everest Base Camp (5,364m) or Kala Patthar Summit (5,643m).
EBC is the dream of so many people but only few are lucky to invade the trails to EBC. After few hours of inclined walk on boulder path, the trail lands at EBC. The tantalizing serene vista of Khumbu icefall and Nuptse (7,861m) over EBC spellbind the trekkers. The Base Camp looks full house with a lot of trekkers and climbers capturing photos, celebrating success, exchanging smile and laughing, and puzzled after successful accomplishment at EBC.
The Mt. Everest is completely hidden and can’t be perceived from EBC which arises melancholic feeling in trekkers; therefore, the short trip to Kala Patthar summit is scheduled on next day. Many trekkers begin their trek in the early morning for the clear reddish sunrise view over Mt. Everest. The trip offers the 360-degree view of Himalayan range and panoramic landscape. The summit is the ideal place for the camera work. Spend wonderful time at the peak and celebrate the triumph before the trail drops down to Gorakshep. At Gorakshep the trekkers take delicate breakfast before the trail descends towards the village Pheriche. While dropping down from Pheriche, stop at Tengboche village for the inspection of sacred Tengboche Gompa which may help to heal the pain through the effused incense stick and chant of monks. Eventually, the trail descends down to Namche and then Lukla following the same route. From Lukla, the return flight to Kathmandu offers extra pleasure if you shift your former position to the opposite side. Enjoy the turbulent mountain flight.

Final word:
We have prepared the packages as advised by Mr. knows all (our experts); however, the time duration from one route to another route is generalized and may vary from trekker to trekker.
The trails in the Himalayan region are rocky, icy, sandy and steep. Be careful while walking, otherwise injury may ruin your travel.
The climate is also bizarre, windy, cold in the Everest region and there is also chance of AMS. If any symptoms are seen, consult with the guide or health expertise.
Trek to EBC is a journey in the heaven. You encounter numerous massifs, Himalayan range, wild animals, aesthetic landscape, heart-touching people or lifestyle. You may be delighted to seize the momentum in your cameras. We heartily request you to capture the photos while returning back from EBC. It saves our time and helps to reach at the destination in time.
Trekking in the Himalayas is a dream of many trekkers but it might become a nightmare if you are not well equipped with the genuine gears. Check the website or consult with the expert and list-out the gears needed for EBC trek.
The climate in the Himalayas fluctuate time to time and season to season, consequently delays the flight for some hours, or even a day or two. It is better if you add one more spare day in your schedule.
Have an adventurous expedition in the land of Himalayas with MMT.
Note: Above trekking hours and distances are approximate, and absolutely for general idea only.
If you have more days to spend in Nepal, then MMT also has an optional trekking package with the same amenities. The 16 days trek to EBC package is the sameand suited best for more relaxed trekkers.
Remark - Please note that cloud and turbulent weather is a regular phenomenon along the Himalayan range. It is thus possible that domestic flights from Kathmandu to/from Lukla may have to be delayed for a few hours or even cancelled for a day or more. Fortunately this does not happen frequently during the high seasons of March – May or September - November but you need to plan for this possibility.
